3.0+ Magnitude Earthquakes Shake Turkey 11 times

In the early morning hours of today in the Black Sea region, Kandıra district of Kocaeli is struck by earthquake. Despite the earthquake was 102 km away from Kandıra , Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency(AFAD) says 4.8 magnitude earthquake was felt from Istanbul and Kocaeli.

Camkonak, Gebeli, Camitepe and Babalı villagges of Kocaeli where are 103 km away from the center of the earthquake, but AFAD says these villages are the closest point to the focal point of the earthquake

Manisa also shook by 4.2 earthquake

AFAD says the earthquake that occurred in the Black Sea is not the only one. 4.1 and 4.2 magnitude of earthquake struck the Manisa province in the same day in the morning 5 and 6 am too.

Turkey has active fault lines and most of the earthquake incidents, minor quakes and aftershocks occur in Aegean and Marmara Regions. AFAD monthly earthquake data shows the details of earthquakes. From September 15th to October 15th most of the earthquakes are recorded 3.0 Magnitude level and happened in Aegean and Marmara

Eleven earthquakes with magnitude of 3.0 within a week

According to AFAD monthly earthquake data,  11 earthquake incidents took place  in this week (42nd week) with magnitude of 3.1 and 4.2. Compared to other week( 38th, 39th, 40th and 41st) 6 earthquakes in week 38th, 18 earthquakes in week 39th and 12 earthquakes in week 40th occur.
